Oxford Labour Increase Majority On Oxford City Council

Last night Oxford Labour made a net gain of 3 seats on Oxford City Council taking the total number of Labour councillors to 29.

Labour Reveals True Cost Of NHS Job Losses

Labour has today revealed the hidden costs of redundancy pay-outs in Oxfordshire arising from David Cameron's NHS re-organisation.

The new figures come as a leaked report from the Department of Health confirms the full costs of the reorganisation at over £3 billion.

New, official figures list the costs of NHS redundancies in every community during the first year of the Tory-led Government's NHS re-organisation.

Lesley Page Elected Royal College Of Midwives President

Oxford resident and Oxford Labour member, Lesley Page, who was the first professor of midwifery in the UK at Thames Valley University and Queen Charlotte’s Hospital, has been elected as the new president of the Royal College of Midwives.

Professor Page said: “I am proud to have been a member of the Oxford Labour Party and value the support of local party members in my election campaign.

Andrew Smith MP Praises Pioneering Cancer Research Centre

Labour MP for Oxford East, Andrew Smith, met with Cancer Research UK scientists last week (Friday 13 January) to learn about the world class research taking place in Oxford.

Andrew visited part of the Oxford Cancer Research Centre at the Old Road Campus Research Building and donned a lab coat to witness the Centre’s groundbreaking research firsthand.
