The Greater Headington branch of Oxford Labour has chosen Simon Ottino, a teacher who lives locally in Margaret Road, to contest the forthcoming Oxford City Council Headington ward by-election, which is expected to take place on Thursday 19th July.

It came to our attention late on Thursday 3rd May that Councillor Ben Lloyd-Shogbesan had shared material, posted by other organisations and individuals, on his Facebook site, which both he on reflection and the leadership of the Oxford City Council Labour Group consider inappropriate and incompatible with Oxford Labour Party values.

 

Cllr Lloyd-Shogbesan, who is one of two Councillors representing Lye Valley on Oxford City Council, took down his Facebook site on Friday 4th May and it is no longer active.

Ahead of responding formally to an address to Council tonight about the Windrush anniversary, Cllr Susan Brown, Leader of Oxford City Council, called the treatment of the so-called Windrush generation and their families: “a shameful episode for which the Prime Minister personally needs to accept responsibility along with her Conservative and Lib Dem coalition colleagues who supported a change in the law in 2014 which has directly led to this situation.”
