Oscar Van Nooijen has lived in Oxford for eleven years, since arriving to study History and Politics at The Queen's College. Oscar has been an Oxford City Councillor for Hinksey Park since July 2006, representing all the communities of South Oxford.

Oscar was a member of the City Executive Board from 2008 to 2010, with responsibility for service transformation, customer services and asset management.  

He currently chairs the West Area Planning Committee and convenes the Central, South and West Area Forum, as well as serving on the Finance & Performance Scrutiny and Audit & Governance Committees.  From September 2011, he is employed as a History teacher at a secondary school in Reading, having previously worked for various colleges of Oxford University, most recently as Academic Registrar of University College.  He is a former Vice Chair of Governors at The Cherwell School, and serves as a trustee of the South Oxford Community Association, and as a trustee and director of the Oxford Deaf and Hard of Hearing Centre.  He is also a member of the Oxford Civic Society.

Oscar is married with one cat.  His interests and activities include swimming, walking, history, typography, and architectural history.
