Oxford faces a significant housing crisis. Tackling this and ensuring everyone has the safety and comfort of a good quality, affordable home is an essential priority for Oxford Labour. Labour’s plan revolves around building new Council homes and improving existing homes.
Labour is taking urgent action to build more affordable homes, improve conditions for renters and prevent rough sleeping. This includes publishing a new strategy to ensure everyone can access a good quality, affordable home. As part of this, Labour will deliver Oxford’s most extensive council house building programme since the 1970s. 1,600 new affordable homes are planned for completion by 2026.
Trish and Sandy will push for more truly affordable and council homes for local residents and support new dedicated housing for key workers. Labour has also ensured standards for renters are improved through a new licensing scheme for all rented properties, which went live in September 2022.
