Recycling food waste, textiles, small electricals & coffee pods
✅ The City Council is rolling out MORE food waste recycling to more flats and shared houses to free up space in black bin bags and reduce mess caused by foxes.
✅ Book a FREE collection of old textiles, including clothes and bedding, straight from your front door. Visit www.oxford.gov.uk/xfp/form/258 to book with Recycling Solutions. Profits go to the Thames Valley Air Ambulance Service.
✅ Recycle small electricals like kettles and batteries for FREE by putting them in a clear, untied plastic bag on top of any bin on any collection day.
✅ Sign up at www.podback.org to recycle your coffee pods for FREE.
✅ More information on waste and recycling can be found at www.oxford.gov.uk/goes-bin.
Oxford Direct Services (ODS): Owned by us & working hard for us!
✅ Our Labour-run Oxford City Council set up its own company ODS to keep our streets clean and collect bins. This means we can save money and even raise funds – keeping services IN-HOUSE, selling them to businesses, and reinvesting any profit right back into council services.
✅ ODS recently received another award for its street cleaning performance!
✅ ODS workers receive the Oxford Living Wage, which is set at 95% of the London Living Wage and is currently £14.06/hour (April 2026).
