Labour’s working hard to put money back into families’ pockets, break down barriers to opportunity, and give every child the very best start in life. With free breakfast clubs, cheaper uniform costs, and government-funded childcare, some families will save up to £8,000 a year.

🍎 Rolling out free breakfast clubs for all primary school children
- This will save families an average £450/year
- They will also help many families with before-school childcare and help get children ready for day of learning
- 750 schools have already launched their free breakfast clubs, serving 180,000 children across the country
- Barton Park Primary School and St Joseph’s Primary School are part of this roll out, too!
👕 Reducing the cost of school uniforms by capping the number of branded items
- This will save families up to £50/year from next September
- Primary schools will be able to require a maximum of 3 branded items
- Secondary schools will be able to include an additional branded item if one of those is a tie
🧸 30 hours/week free childcare for working families
- This will save families an average £7,500/year from this September
- It will help families with under-5s to be able to work and get into training
📚 Rolling out 3,000 new school-based nurseries across England
- The Tories had no plan to reform the system and provide the childcare that families need
- Each school-based nursery will provide an average of 20 places as part of this roll out
- Windale Primary School is one of the first 300 schools to convert unused space into nursery places!
🌻 £1 billion extra to support children with SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities)
- The Government is also investing £740 million into creating more specialist places in mainstream schools
- In Oxfordshire, Labour County Councillors added £1.4 million to the Council’s budget to provide extra support, and we’re pushing to reform the SEND system and provide better advice to families
🌟 Investing in new youth centres and family hubs
- Family hubs are one-stop shops for young families looking for help and advice
- Early years and improving our schools is so important to closing the gap in grades and outcomes across Oxford and beyond
- In Oxfordshire, Labour will build on the County Youth Service and youth workers that we brought back to provide careers advice and mental health support
- We’ll provide more things to do for young people – like the new youth hub currently under construction in the Leys and the music technology sessions we started up in Rose Hill and Littlemore
